Active Investor Plus visa
The visa requires the investor to do the following:

No, there is no longer an English language testing requirement of AIP visa applicants.
Once an application has been submitted to Immigration New Zealand, the estimated average processing time is 36 days.

The current government application fee for the Active Investor Plus visa is NZD 27,470 per application. This fee covers the principal applicant and any family members included in the application. As immigration fees may change from time to time, we recommend confirming the latest fee with your Greener Pastures New Zealand representative.
Yes, your Active Investor Plus visa application can include your immediate family, such as your spouse or partner and dependent children 24 years and under. Once you obtain permanent residency, if you wish, you can also sponsor your parent’s residency applications.
To maintain eligibility for the visa, Growth category investors are required to spend a minimum of 21 days in New Zealand during the three-year conditional visa period. Balanced category investors are required to spend a minimum of 105 days in New Zealand during the five-year conditional visa period.

The timeframe for an Active Investor Plus visa application largely depends on how quickly you are able to gather and provide the required documentation. For many applicants, preparing the application is the most time-consuming part of the process. Once your application has been submitted, Immigration New Zealand's average processing time is approximately 36 working days. If approved, you will receive Approval in Principle, after which you have up to six months to transfer your funds to New Zealand and make your qualifying investment.
Many clients choose to invest shortly after receiving Approval in Principle, having already selected their preferred investment option during the application process. Others use part or all of the six-month period to complete fund transfers, undertake due diligence, and determine which investment best aligns with their goals.
Qualifying investments
Once Permanent Residency has been granted, you are no longer subject to any investment conditions under the Active Investor Plus visa. Your investment may remain in your chosen qualifying fund(s) in accordance with the fund’s terms. Greener Pastures AIP Qualifying Funds offer structured liquidity options, which we can discuss with you as required.
You do not need to transfer your investment funds until you have received Approval in Principle and are ready to make your qualifying investment. Following Approval in Principle, you have up to six months to transfer your funds and complete your investment.
Living in New Zealand
AIP visa holders may build or purchase one residential property with a minimum value of NZD 5 million, subject to regulatory requirements.
Those who become ordinarily resident in New Zealand - meaning they are living in New Zealand and have met certain residency and tax residency requirements - may also be eligible to purchase residential property below this threshold.
Yes, children can study in New Zealand if their parents hold an Active Investor Plus visa. This visa allows the visa holder's dependent children to live in New Zealand, which includes access to New Zealand's educational system.
